Graphical representation makes complex concepts—like the intricacies of an ERP system—more universal, relatable and easy to understand.

ERP dashboards gather and visualize critical metrics from across the organization, offering insight into the performance, outlook and interconnectivity of business processes.

By setting up ERP dashboards that illustrate key metrics and compellingly communicate operational performance, key stakeholders will have a clear picture of the health of the business—and make better, more informed business decisions as a result.

The Crossroads Analytics Dashboard has preconfigured views for all of the following:

 Infor LX & BPCS
  • Sales Bookings (ECH)
  • Accounts Receivable (RAR)
  • Accounts Payable (APH)
  • Planned Orders (KFP)
  • Purchasing (HPH)
  • Shop Order Material (FMA)
  • Shop Order Operations (FOD)
  • CEA
  • Order Booking (ECS)
  • Labor History (FLT)

Infor LX & BPCS Tip of the Week: MPS vs. MRP

George Moroses 0 16967 Article rating: 5.0

What items should be MPS planned, and what items should be MRP planned…

Master Scheduled Items are those items that are finished goods, or service items, that receive their requirements either specifically from Independent demand, or both Dependent and Independent demand.

  • Independent Demand is demand that cannot be calculated from higher level demand in the product structure, and therefore must be either a forecast or an actual customer order (Finished Goods or Service parts sold to customers).
  • Dependent demand is derived from higher level demand in the product structure. Dependent demand includes components, raw materials, and sub-assemblies. (these are not normally Master Scheduled Items).
  • Service Parts may have both independent demand from forecast and/or customer orders, as well as dependent demand from higher level demand if that item is also used in other sub-assemblies or products.
  • Cumulative Lead Time is a concept used in Master Production Scheduling (MPS) that combines the “fixed” lead time, and the “variable” lead time needed to produce the product. It is the longest path through a given Bill-of-material. Based on the MPS setup options, Infor/ERP LX will calculate cumulative lead time (also called “the Critical Path”) for you (use the “indented BOM” display in BOM300 and find the item with the longest lead time “L/T”). Note: You may have to use Action 21, Line Detail, to see the “L/T” lead time for each item.

Crossroads RMC Tip of the Week: How to Prevent Your Company From Being a Victim of Ransomware

Crossroads RMC 0 27060 Article rating: 3.5

This is unfortunately becoming a common occurrence in today’s digital society and we are hearing about these sort of attacks quite frequently.

There are a few dos and don’ts when it comes to ransomware as recommended by Norton 360:

  1. Do not pay the ransom. It only encourages and funds these attackers. Even if the ransom is paid, there is no guarantee that you will be able to regain access to your files.
  2. Restore any impacted files from a known good backup. Restoration of your files from a backup is the fastest way to regain access to your data.
  3. Do not provide personal information when answering an email, unsolicited phone call, text message or instant message. Phishers will try to trick employees into installing malware, or gain intelligence for attacks by claiming to be from IT. Be sure to contact your IT department if you or your coworkers receive suspicious calls.
  4. Use reputable antivirus software and a firewall. Maintaining a strong firewall and keeping your security software up to date are critical. It’s important to use antivirus software from a reputable company because of all the fake software out there.
  5. Do employ content scanning and filtering on your mail servers. Inbound e-mails should be scanned for known threats and should block any attachment types that could pose a threat.
  6. Do make sure that all systems and software are up-to-date with relevant patches. Exploit kits hosted on compromised websites are commonly used to spread malware. Regular patching of vulnerable software is necessary to help prevent infection.
  7. If traveling, alert your IT department beforehand, especially if you’re going to be using public wireless Internet. Make sure you use a trustworthy Virtual Private Network (VPN) when accessing public Wi-Fi like Norton Secure VPN.

Infor LX & BPCS Tip of the Week: What is EGLi?

George Moroses 0 13621 Article rating: 5.0

EGLi provides Infor LX Configurable Enterprise Accounting (CEA) functionality including Advanced Transaction Processing (ATP), a configurable ledger, and batch transaction processing in the IDF architecture.

EGLi is a complete replacement for CEA. Infor LX applications integrate with EGLi, and subsystem transactions generated in Infor LX are used to create journal entries in EGLi. The Infor LX integration system parameters allow you to specify whether CEA or EGLi is your primary financial product.

We recommend that you select CEA while you test the integration. The primary financial product flag and the CEA migration programs are designed to assist existing CEA clients with their implementation of EGLi. Journals are produced in both GL systems so you can verify that the data in both GL systems are the same. This integration includes migration programs that copy your existing CEA files to corresponding EGLi files. After you run the migration programs, EGLi should be configured and ready to use. If you are already running IDF via Ming.le or SiW, before you install EGLi, you will need to see the Ming.le integration guide for instructions on how to export EGLi tasks from IDF to SiW/Ming.le.

Infor LX / BPCS Tip of the Week: Control Date Lead Times in LX

George Moroses 0 13313 Article rating: 5.0
  • Control Date Lead Times – LX provides five separate Control Date Lead Time fields so you can specify additional lead time values for Shop Orders, Purchase Orders and Planned and Firm Planned orders. Each Control Lead Time Date represents additional time (days) required at each step in the process that needs more time (Quarantine, Stabilize), that is to say, when a component is due, and when it can be used. (working with an aerospace  precision bearing manufacturer, I had to account for the QA requirement that no measurements could be taken until the parts had been “soaked” (stored) in an atmospheric controlled environment (72 degrees, and controlled humidity) for 24 hours. This requirement added one full day of lead time between each machining operation) The MPS/MRP Generation program, as well as programs that Shop Order Material Allocation records use the five control date lead times to adjust component required dates to function in the same way as the BOM Offset Lead Time.
  • All programs that create MRP Planned Orders, MRP Firm Planned Orders, Shop Orders, and Purchase Orders call the Control Date Calculation program (MRP515B) to establish all five control dates. A Control Lead Time Date is used to adjust the component Required Dates data in the Material Requirements file (KMR), based on planned orders for a parent, and the FMA Required Dates data, based on shop order release dates for a parent.

Infor LX & BPCS Tip of the Week: Control Number, POCNO, added to CEA502B1

George Moroses 0 14207 Article rating: 5.0

This enhancement makes the control number field in the purchase order file available for macros. Previously, the POCNO field (control number) in the purchase order was not available for macros. This enhancement allows the user to create macros that use this field. This enhancement provides the user with the ability to keep track of control numbers in their journal entries.

The programs impacted include:

  • CEA502B1, ACP Engine Resolution Program
  • CGL091B, ERPLX ACP File I/O Program

Display Customer Type on Order Header Panel – 8.4. Enhancement

This enhancement displays the Customer Type on the Order Header – Billing panel. The Customer Type can be a pricing or promotion qualifier and may convey other important information about the ordering customer during the Order Entry process.

Programs or areas impacted include:

  • Order Header – Billing (ORD700D9)

This enhancement allows users to restrict access to purchase order print programs, providing additional security at the company and warehouse levels.

The purchase order print programs were updated to provide security validation for the user who selects the purchase orders to print. The security validation is controlled by the PO Print Security Validation flag on the Purchasing System Parameters screen, PUR820D-04.

One way to save space in your general ledger is to compress integration transactions. The transactions are combined into one ledger account number, and the detail is still available in the integration transactions sessions.

The compression is seen after the transactions are finalized.

Compression is established in the mapping scheme by checking the box under the columns “Compression of Debit/Credit Transactions. This can only be done in a mapping scheme that is not activated.
