What will you do when your ERP is no longer supported in 2021?

This is a confusing time for many companies with respect to their ERP system.

"Will I still be able to run my current version?"
"What happens if I want to stay on my version?"
"What options do I have?"

Crossroads RMC is here to help you sort through the confusion and get you to a place where you feel confident about your ERP future.

Let's get started with how we can help. I want Crossroads RMC to…

  • Conduct an Infor ERP Utilization Review – Should I consider moving to the latest version of LX in the cloud, or on prem? If I don’t, what are my options?

  • Set up an Infor ERP Demo System – I want to give my employees a chance to try out the latest version to see if it would be of benefit.

  • Train My Employees – I want to ensure that we’re operating based on best practices.

  • Integrate My ERP to External Systems – My company uses separate systems that don’t talk to one another and that is really inefficient.

  • Brainstorm With Me – I’m not sure what to do. I need to talk through some scenarios with someone who has been there, done that.

  • Support My Users – I’m short-staffed. I may upgrade, or I may stay where I’m at. Either way, I could use someone to handle our ERP issues. Please help!

Frank Petrasio 0 12116 Article rating: 5.0

As of December 31, 2021, Infor LX 8.3.3 and earlier, along with ALL versions of BPCS will move to sustaining maintenance.

What does that mean?

If you are on LX 8.3.3 or earlier, or any version of BPCS, your ERP will not be supported by Infor. NO new updates, NO new fixes, regardless of the severity of the issue.

We understand that your situation may not fall into the category of a one-size-fits-all solution, so we are here to tell you that our consultants will work with you to find a solution that works for your people and makes the most sense for your business.

Infor will no longer support LX or BPCS on IBM i 7.2 after April 30, 2021

George Moroses 0 16421 Article rating: 5.0

On September 10, 2019, IBM® announced the end of support of IBM i 7.2 effective April 30, 2021. In line with IBM’s support policy, Infor will no longer support LX, BPCS, SSAEAM, PRMS, BOSS and related products on IBM i 7.2 after April 30, 2021.

All releases, patches, and solutions are expected to be delivered and compiled for IBM i 7.3 effective May 1, 2021. These deliverables should install and function on version 7 release 3 (IBM i 7.3) and above. This will require that your operating system be at a minimum release level of IBM i 7.3.

This policy extends to other Infor LX related technologies including WebTop, System i Workspace (SIW), and Infor Development Framework (IDF).

If you have not done so already, we recommend you start planning and completing your upgrade to IBM i 7.3 or above prior to April 30, 2021. After this date, if you register a support call with Infor Support, and your application still runs on IBM i 7.2, you may be requested to upgrade to a supported version of the IBM i operating system.

In addition, we invite you to log on to Infor Concierge to view and download important information regarding Infor LX, BPCS, and Infor SSAEAM. General KB Articles have been created to proactively provide you with information regarding this Announcement (1397381) and the Infor BPCS/LX Product Lifecycle Policy (1947086).

Infor LX & BPCS Tip of the Week: Journal Upload – EGLi

George Moroses 0 18416 Article rating: 5.0

EGLi users who maintain journal entries in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet can use this utility to upload journal entries to EGLi. The Journal Upload installation program adds an Add-Ins tab to Microsoft Excel. This tab includes options to connect to the server where EGLi is installed and to open a spreadsheet template to use for manual journal entry. When the spreadsheet is complete, the Add-Ins tab is used to upload the spreadsheet.

To install Journal Upload:

  1.  The Power-Link Installation page has links to the Client installation programs and a link to download and install the Journal Upload utility. To access this page, use this link with your own values for system and NetLinkport: http://system:NetLinkport/Installs/ClientInstall/Install.html  where system is the server where IDF is installed and NetLinkport is the Net-Link port, typically 36001

  2. On the Power-Link Installation page, click the link provided to download and install EGLi Journal Upload.

  3. Follow the screen prompts to complete the installation on your PC.

  4. To verify the installation, open an Excel spreadsheet. Confirm that the Add-Ins tab is on the spreadsheet.

Tips:  LX | BPCS | M3

Don’t laugh! I know, I know…many of our customers say that after 7-10 years they are finally settling in after the implementation! We have seen many a customer stretch out the lifespan of their ERP system to 20+ years. That sounds great for the company’s bank account, but is it good for the business?

An outdated ERP system hurts your business in many ways, not just with slow performance. The best-of-breed functionality is now 2 decades old, and obsolete technology can't leverage newer technology. Lack of integration leads to siloed data that hurts communication and your internal teams feel the pain, and your customers are noticing. Poor visibility into your operations makes it nearly impossible to achieve industry-based regulatory compliance and meet financial auditing requirements. Not to mention the sheer size of Big Data that is being collected today vs. 2 decades ago or the fact that your vendor is no longer supporting your ERP version.

Let’s scrap it all and start over!...

This program allows maintenance of vendor terms, which you individually assign to each vendor. Vendor terms designate the due date and the discount date as a number of days after the invoice date. You establish the discount percentage here. Vendor terms are stored in the AVT file. Rather than use the method specified above, you can override due dates and discount dates so those calendar days are used to age invoices.

Is the text linked to the purchase order just an information field? Could it be used for another purpose?

The text editor is just an information field when linked to the purchase order line and there is no other logic behind this functionality. The line text or the header text could be a part of the printed document. When you add text to a purchase order line you are creating a unique code that links the purchase order line (Baan - tdpur041/ LN - tdpur401) to the text (tttxt010).
