Infor LX & BPCS Tip: Can’t Select Orders for Pick Release or Pick Confirm?

George Moroses 0 19198 Article rating: 5.0

Orders that are on credit hold, customer hold, user hold, margin hold, credit card hold or pricing hold cannot be selected for Pick Release or Pick Confirm. The ORD952B, Orders Not Selected Report, can be requested at Pick Release or Pick Confirm to list any order that would normally qualify for selection, but has been excluded for other reasons, and to print that reason. ORD952B has been modified to validate the hold status of the original customer order, and to print a reference to the original customer order along with the reason.

Infor LN & Baan Job Management

Kathy Barthelt 0 15888 Article rating: 5.0

You can use job management to schedule jobs based on your organizational requirements. For example, you can schedule jobs at non-peak hours to improve the overall system performance in a heavily loaded environment. A job consists of one or more sessions or shell commands, or both, that run without user interaction. The sessions and shell commands in a job can be started while you are not logged on to the ERP system. You can schedule jobs to start processes periodically, at a defined interval, or immediately. Typically, you use job management for...

Infor LX & BPCS Tip: Configurable Ledger (CLD) Benefits

George Moroses 0 29522 Article rating: 5.0

Did you know CLD provides you with the following benefits?

▪ You can journalize and post-transaction data from any third-party application or Infor LX subsystem to the Configurable Ledger (CLD).

▪ You can generate multiple journal entries across different charts of accounts, ledgers, and books within the CLD from one transaction line.

▪ You can automatically post transaction amounts across different books using an appropriate exchange rate between the batch transaction currency and target book currency.

▪ You can use validation reports to identify validation errors within the files that contain batch transaction data and then you can make any necessary corrections before resubmission.

▪ You can use standard CEA grouping and summarization options for journals created during Batch Transaction Processing.

▪ You can interface GLD journal entries into CEA for the BPCD version of Infor LX. This allows data to be interfaced into CEA without changing the way data is processed through Infor LX subsystems.

Improves control over PO costing changes during invoice entry by replacing passive warnings with an intentional override action.

  • In ACP500D3 (Invoice Entry PO Costing), users previously could unintentionally accept changes by pressing ENTER, even when quantity to cost or amount to cost values had changed.

  • A new “F14 to Override” warning message replaces the old message:
“Details have changed. Press enter again to accept data.”
This ensures users acknowledge and confirm significant changes explicitly.

New System Parameter:

  • “Apply GRN Costing Tolerance for PO Costing” (optional):

    • Within tolerance: Displays the original message —
“Details have changed. Press enter again to accept data.”

    • Outside tolerance: Triggers the new override requirement —
      “F14 to Override”

Benefits:

  • Enhances oversight and reduces unintentional cost acceptance.

  • Enables better control of PO costs when invoice details differ from expectations.

Don't laugh - the average lifespan of an ERP system is 7-10 years

Don't laugh - the average lifespan of an ERP system is 7-10 years

Don’t laugh! I know, I know…many of our customers say that after 7-10 years they are finally settling in after the implementation! We have seen many a customer stretch out the lifespan of their ERP system to 20+ years. That sounds great for the company’s bank account, but is it good for the business?

An outdated ERP system hurts your business in many ways, not just with slow performance. The best-of-breed functionality is now 2 decades old, and obsolete technology can't leverage newer technology. Lack of integration leads to siloed data that hurts communication and your internal teams feel the pain, and your customers are noticing. Poor visibility into your operations makes it nearly impossible to achieve industry-based regulatory compliance and meet financial auditing requirements. Not to mention the sheer size of Big Data that is being collected today vs. 2 decades ago or the fact that your vendor is no longer supporting your ERP version.

Let’s scrap it all and start over!

Is it that black and white though? There is an ocean between “do nothing” and “replace everything”. Taking incremental steps can give your organization a tremendous amount of benefit without the tremendous price tag that often goes with ERP replacement, but you need to be willing to take the first step. Maybe there is a manufacturing ERP add-on that you know would provide tremendous benefit and improve overall efficiency, or a web portal that you log in to that allows you to communicate with your suppliers, but it has no tie to your purchase orders, or maybe your team would benefit from a review of industry best practices and how that compares to how your ERP system is currently being used. Or at the very least you need to know if your ERP system is still meeting the organization’s needs.

Success will never be a big step in the future. Success is a small step taken just now.” – Jonatan Martensson
