Infor LN & Baan Tip of the Week: New Inventory Aging Analysis Report – 10.7

Kathy Barthelt 0 131635 Article rating: 5.0

A new standard Inventory Aging report can be printed in the Perform Inventory Aging Analysis (whina1440m000) session. This report is mainly based on the physical incoming and outgoing inventory movements and transactions. The date of inventory consumption or issue is compared to the date of receipt. If inventory is not yet issued, a reference date is used for aging calculation.

The report includes this information:

  • Which inventory items are not frequently used or are obsolete.
  • How long items have been stored in a warehouse.
  • Inventory and transaction values. This facilitates the financial auditing process.

To use this new feature, an inventory aging analysis definition must be available in the Inventory Aging Analysis Definition (whina1140m000) session.

Infor LX & BPCS Tip of the Week: Order Entry Line Copy Feature – LX 8.4

George Moroses 0 22565 Article rating: 5.0

This enhancement provides the ability to copy order lines, quote lines, and RMA lines. During Order Entry, action 3=Copy is available to copy regular lines and special lines. The new line displays in the next available line number.  This enhancement reduces manual key entry and speeds up Order Entry.

The programs or areas impacted include ORD700D2, Order Line Entry, Quote Line Entry, and RMA Line Entry.

Infor LN & Baan Tip of the Week: What is the LN Report Designer and what is required to use it?

Kathy Barthelt 0 1430 Article rating: 5.0

The main purpose of the Report Designer is to enable changes to the design of a 4GL application report, without modifying the standard report or using an external reporting solution. The changes are stored as personalizations. Therefore, the effort that is required to implement changes, after the standard is updated, is reduced.

You can also generate new reports that are based on a selection of fields from the application data model. These reports are generated in the extensibility package. You can personalize these reports in the Report Designer, or modify them in LN Studio.

  • The Report Designer is available with LN 10.5 and later.
  • Enterprise Server 10.6 is required.
  • The Report Designer is only supported in LN UI.

Note:  On LN 10.5 you must re-compile the reports once with Enterprise Server 10.6 to enable them for the Report Designer.

Infor LN & Baan Year-End Processing Checklist for Period and Fiscal Year Closure

The conclusion of the fiscal year is inevitably a hectic period, making it crucial not to overlook essential tasks within your ERP system to ensure a seamless year-end close and set the stage for a successful start to the upcoming year. Below are critical items to include in your comprehensive checklist:

Year-End Close Process:

  1. Remove discontinued items.
  2. Eliminate sold purchase receipts.
  3. Clear lot attributes for sold lots.
  4. Update standard cost based on the current cost field (for environments without Manufacturing only).

Prepare for Year-End Close:

  1. Conduct a comprehensive physical inventory and update quantities before the actual year-end or establish a robust cycle-counting program.
  2. Review and post any applicable sales and purchase invoices/returns.
  3. Prepare users for a year-end push to complete all year-to-date inventory adjustments, receipts, and invoicing.
  4. Determine procedures for handling new year transactions without immediate posting.
  5. Establish new standard costs for the upcoming year (Manufacturing).
  6. Discuss cutoff dates for removing Archived BOMs and Closed/Canceled Mfg Orders (Manufacturing).

Finance Specific Items:

  1. Set up financial periods for 2024 (fiscal, reporting, and tax, as applicable).
  2. Open January period in 2024.
  3. Finalize any outstanding transactions from the current year (2023).
  4. Perform a soft-close for any open periods in 2023.

General Baan/LN Tips:

  1. Issue any pending old sales invoices.
  2. Resolve outstanding financial integration errors.
  3. Establish new integration mapping for 2024 as needed.
  4. Test the mapping in a controlled environment before the new year.
  5. Review and update jobs to ensure they will process in 2024.
  6. Determine, for cash-flow purposes, which purchase invoices won’t be paid until 2024.
  7. Verify that calendars are set up for the new year with holidays correctly indicated.
  8. Check jobs to ensure that any with hard-coded dates will point at the new year.
