Master Scheduled Items are those items that are finished goods, or service items, that receive their requirements either specifically from Independent demand, or both Dependent and Independent demand. Independent Demand is demand that cannot be calculated from higher-level demand in the product structure, and therefore must be either a forecast or an actual customer order (Finished Goods or Service parts sold to customers). Dependent demand is derived from higher-level demand in the product structure. Dependent demand includes components, raw materials, and sub-assemblies. (these are not normally Master Scheduled Items). Service Parts may have both independent demand from forecast and/or customer orders, as well as dependent demand from higher-level demand if that item is also used in other sub-assemblies or products. Cumulative Lead Time is a concept used in Master Production Scheduling (MPS) that combines the “fixed” lead time, and the “variable” lead time needed to produce the product. It is the longest path through a given Bill-of-material. Based on the MPS setup options, Infor LX (ERP LX) will calculate the cumulative lead time (also called “the Critical Path”) for you (use the “indented BOM” display in BOM300 and find the item with the longest lead time “L/T”). Note: You may have to use Action 21, Line Detail, to see the “L/T” lead time for each item. 14Mar2017 BPCS/LX Tip of the Week: When More = Less Tuesday, March 14, 2017 Read more Do you have bottlenecks in your process due to product changeovers or breakdowns? Maybe the answer is adding redundancy in the department where you are experiencing the problem. A duplicate machine setup can allow for double the capacity during high production periods. It can also eliminate the need to swap out tools or other materials due to different production runs. When breakdowns occur, equipment can be swapped out to keep production moving while repairs are being made. Planning for this keeps production levels high. Optimize Your Manufacturing Today! 8Mar2017 BPCS/LX Tip of the Week: Web Services Wednesday, March 8, 2017 Read more Web Services can be very helpful for LX users to obtain updated information directly from the source, for example: LX users can use a web service to request a stock check on an item for which they are going to issue a purchase order. Users can get item availability and updated pricing before placing the order. LX users can also use a web service to get real time shipping charges from UPS, Fed Ex, etc. Once the user selects the appropriate freight charge, it can be added to the customer order while the order is being placed over the phone.
