BPCS/LX Tip of the Week: Infor LX Compatibility With IBM i 7.3

IBM® has released its latest operating system for the IBM i. IBM i 7.3™ has many new features and enhancements that you may want to take advantage of.

Infor is pleased to announce the following Infor LX products are supported on this new version, effective June 12.

Supported products and versions

The following Infor products have been evaluated for compatibility with IBM i 7.3 and are supported on that version of the platform:

  • Infor LX 8.3 (all release levels)
  • Brazil Pack for Infor LX 8.3
  • Argentina Pack for Infor LX 8.3
  • Infor BPCS 8.2 (all release levels)

Hi,

I have recently upgraded our IBM System I to version 7.3 and I have found the ERP Lx V8.3.3, is not entirely compatible with V7.3.

We experienced huge problems with IDF, as we were on an older version and there were no indications or suggestions from Infor that we should upgrade prior to upgrading to iOS 7.3. We check check directly with Infor and on their support forums before hand.

Also, we have found that some of the larger programs, such as Order Entry and Purchase Order Maintenance, will not compile under iOS 7.3, because the source members are too large.

These are the two main issues we have found. Hopefully our experience can help others.
